Food has always been in the blood of Chef Michael Gruber from the tender age of 12. A third generation Gruber, Michael started by helping out in the kitchen of his family owned hotel, Hotel Mauracher Hof, in Innsbruck, Austria.
Upon graduation from Zillertal Valley Tourism School, he deepened his work experience as a Commis de Cuisne, at Restaurant Canela located in Isla Canela,Spain, a popular sea side holiday destination for the rich and famous in Europe.
Loving the numerous travel opportunities his profession presents, Chef Michael has worked in many prestigious hotels such as Chalet Kristall - voted the world’s best chalet; Restaurant Lindl in Germany and the renowned Grand Hotel Bellevue in Gstaad, Switzerland. It was at Grand Hotel Bellevue that Michael honed his skills further under the tutelage of Chef Richard Mebkhout.
During his two years at the Grand Hotel Bellevue, Michael expanded his repertoire of skills in cuisines ranging from Asian to Classical French. Under the guidance of Head Chef Richard Mebkhout, the culinary team in Grand Hotel Bellevue clinched the coveted Michelin star for Restaurant Prado in 2007.
